Activity Check


Here at Silent Spring, AC is relatively low to accommodate the busy lives of a largely working, late-20s-and-older playerbase, and so that the game is still playable for people whose lives during weekdays (or whichever days work) relegate them to being weekend taggers.

We require one (1) AC proof per month, either a thread of 5 log comments, an event toplevel posted no later than the 20th of the month, 15 short network comments, or 5 multiparagraph network comments. You may not use a thread with the same character for two AC periods in a row.

You can post AC at any time in the month, the earlier, the better! This makes it easier for mods to space out administrative work through the month.

We allow for hiatuses of 1 month, up to 3 a year, not back to back. Players get one strike if they cannot make AC (with the exception of extraneous circumstances - please explain these to mods as soon as you are able to even if you’re not sure you’ll be unable to make AC and just think you might not make AC).

All of this said, think of AC proofs as a small cross-section of expected activity, the absolute bare minimum. This is a very small game, and there aren’t unlimited slots. Out of consideration to the people who didn’t make it in after you, please don’t squat.

New players should post a comment with their handle in the subject line, and then reply to that comment with the following subject line: Character Name | Canon | Role (Husband, Wife, Child).
For each month, post a new comment in reply to the subject line with your character’s name and canon, putting [Month] [Year] (ex: “January 2024”) in this comment’s subject line.

What did your character do this month? Agathe reluctantly attended the dinner party, where she had serious doubts, and she did a little additional poking around and chatting with her neighbors about the situation.

What did your character do this month? Met the new missus! And did some nosying around the hospital with Arthur trying to investigate the toe tag clue a little deeper.

AC Proof: LOG thread with Bucky (freakymagoo) and Numbers (workingthenumbers)

What did your character do this month? Bucky and Arthur tried to leave town to follow up on the toe tag; instead they found the town border, which finally opened Arthur up to avenues of investigation he can actually pursue, and he roped Numbers into assisting with that.

What did your character do this month? It was a quieter month for Norton than February was. Because I had my sister visiting in town for a chunk of March. He saved Holmes from some attacking birds and he's very curious about the "controlled burns" especially after the psychic vision/hallucination that felt to him like wearing an asbestos suit.

What did your character do this month? This month, Numbers mostly lay low and tried to roll with the punches--which, unfortunately, did not work in his favor, because he got attacked and eviscerated by a hawk. Near the end of the month, Arthur reached out to him to organize some Shenanigans regarding tailing trucks out of the town. We'll see how that goes.

What did your character do this month? Margaret was trying to focus her energy on helping those she knows in the town to be "safe". In this case, it was mostly Sans (stitching his arm up from the hawk attack) and Wrench (trying to figure out what was going on with that pill he stole from Marjorie's party).

AC Proof: [EVENT TOPLEVEL] threads with Sans (@ ribticklers), Numbers (@ workingthenumbers), and Norton (@ pharadyne).

What did your character do this month? He actually left his house, helped with pigeon cleanup, poked around the college to see if there were facilities he could use, hallucinated the firefighting, and then in order to see if dying the right way was the way out, poisoned himself and woke up in the cooling pond before promptly dissociating and wandering home! He's met Margaret, Sans, and Norton, and has distant stirrings of positive regard for all three despite misgivings, and is struggling to manage his drug dependence.

He absolutely believes, now that he has died and returned, this is one of the other-worlds he slipped into during his last case, and he's trying very hard to keep calm about it.

AC Proof: LOG thread with Papyrus (spaghettimonster)

What did your character do this month? Sans suffered from the feeling hot at all times badly, as his old body wasn't one that typically needed to deal with temperature changes. He did a lot of scrubbing his skin raw without meaning to. Sans broke into Dr. Ravichandran's office, where he looked at some paperwork and saw that Dr. Ravichandran made a call to the operators at 12:30, presumably out of town. Sans wasn't able to catch him making the call, but hey, he got out of the office okay. He plans to tell everyone else when he gets a chance in case it's relevant. Later, he got attacked by a red-tailed hawk and went to Margaret to get it fixed, not trusting the hospital. He did his best to pretend he was totally a normal human who is definitely used to having skin. Finally, he ran into Sherlock Holmes after Sherlock came back to life.
