Activity Check

Here at Silent Spring, AC is relatively low to accommodate the busy lives of a largely working, late-20s-and-older playerbase, and so that the game is still playable for people whose lives during weekdays (or whichever days work) relegate them to being weekend taggers.

We require one (1) AC proof per month, either a thread of 5 log comments, an event toplevel posted no later than the 20th of the month, 15 short network comments, or 5 multiparagraph network comments. You may not use a thread with the same character for two AC periods in a row.

You can post AC at any time in the month, the earlier, the better! This makes it easier for mods to space out administrative work through the month.

We allow for hiatuses of 1 month, up to 3 a year, not back to back. Players get one strike if they cannot make AC (with the exception of extraneous circumstances - please explain these to mods as soon as you are able to even if you’re not sure you’ll be unable to make AC and just think you might not make AC).

All of this said, think of AC proofs as a small cross-section of expected activity, the absolute bare minimum. This is a very small game, and there aren’t unlimited slots. Out of consideration to the people who didn’t make it in after you, please don’t squat.

New players should post a comment with their handle in the subject line, and then reply to that comment with the following subject line: Character Name | Canon | Role (Husband, Wife, Child).
For each month, post a new comment in reply to the subject line with your character’s name and canon, putting [Month] [Year] (ex: “January 2024”) in this comment’s subject line.

What did your character do this month? During / after the earthquake, Papyrus did a check around the neighborhood for anyone in distress, crossing paths with Margaret and Norton in the process. He tried and failed to communicate with the hostile birds, and took cover eventually. A bit after the smoke started, he hid at his brother Sans's house to commiserate about the phantom heat and weird outfit sensations. Late in the month, he volunteered to help with disposal of the dead birds around town, an experience that left him newly perturbed with the pleasant smiling neighborhood - a mood Raskolnikov caught him in. Past that he's continued learning to drive, taken chances to admire the changes of spring, and done some light reading on human anatomy.

(I am moving this next month, so I have been struggling with keeping up those threads. I do intend to slowly backtag them through the month with anyone interested, but I am probably gonna need to post a hiatus for April to be on the safe side.)

What did your character do this month? sam's first month here was relatively quiet as she adjusted to everything ~~and i struggled with covid~~. she managed to not attack her new husband so yay for her (or him?). she spent a lot of time inside of their house, not wanting to get too involved because... there is a part of her that really does think she might have just lost her mind. but after seeing maragert getting attacked by birds she attempted a rescue, getting the other woman into her house and attacking the birds with a broom.

What did your character do this month? Wrench gave Margaret one of the pills he collected from Marjorie's and the two made plans to give it to an animal and observe its behavior to try to determine the pill's composition. Wrench and Numbers battled the heat. Wrench and Arthur battled birds. Wrench, Arthur, and Numbers took a journey ~~to the center of the earth~~ to the boundary of Sweetwater, after stalking some delivery trucks.

What did your character do this month? Chell slowly settled into living in Sweetwater, though she continues to struggle both practically and emotionally with behaving Correctly in public. Her contrarian streak has yet to get her in real trouble - her "husband" Bucky's advice not to do anything stupid has kept her more in social faux pas territory for the moment - but if she keeps publicly palling around with resident Russian Raskolnikov that might change, let alone if she doesn't find a socially acceptable way to pursue athletics and burn off her energy.

She did assault some murder birds with Numbers, and can be assumed to have helped out with the cleanup efforts towards the end of the month. Her theory is that the earthquake was the result of an explosion, but she hasn't worked out the best way to investigate that yet.

What did your character do this month? Raskolnikov had a quiet month, even with the event. He ran into Chell at the supermarket, and they’ve formed something of an unlikely alliance. The earthquake sent Numbers to Rodya’s house, where they discussed the likeliness of the earthquake being a conspiracy; Raskolnikov also came across Arthur in the earthquake’s aftermath.

What did your character do this month? First full month with his assigned wife, Sam. Aside from that he spent the month mostly laying low and observing. Absolutely does not believe that the smoke is from controlled burns.

What did your character do this month? Witnessed the spaceman incident and wanted to do a little bit of covert investigating, but hasn't shared any info with anyone yet.

What did your character do this month? Chell got nosy this month, digging through the personal belongings of the guy who committed suicide in the middle of the street and facing TBD consequences for it. When Haven Street was subsequently put on lockdown, she and Rodya at the very least discussed breaking the curfew. (That action hasn't resolved yet; we'll keep you posted!)

She also attended the book club to discuss force fields and hallucinations, and reluctantly went to the horse race so as to appear community-minded. At least she and Norton got to talk shit while they were there!

What did your character do this month? During the mandatory lockdown, Raskolnikov met Vox and Renee. He also came across Chell, and they're planning on sneaking out to do some recon with the excuse that she felt claustrophobic and he's just making sure she doesn't get into trouble. There's no way that can go wrong. Later, he had a conversation with Norton that was initially about the smoke in the air but quickly turned into Norton telling Rodya about that time he was handcuffed to a bed in a burning building.

What did your character do this month? After spending the later half of March chasing delivery trucks, Arthur, Numbers and Wrench escalated the endeavour by outright hijacking a truck and its driver. After getting punished by torture, Arthur came back and spread the word as to the barrier bubble and the torture treatment.

What did your character do this month? sam is venturing out more. she spent more time with her husband which is still really weird to her. she met vox was was immediately suspicious of him (can you blame her?!). she also met raskolnikov at the ~~rich white people nonsense race~~ horse race.
