Activity Check

Here at Silent Spring, AC is relatively low to accommodate the busy lives of a largely working, late-20s-and-older playerbase, and so that the game is still playable for people whose lives during weekdays (or whichever days work) relegate them to being weekend taggers.

We require one (1) AC proof per month, either a thread of 5 log comments, an event toplevel posted no later than the 20th of the month, 15 short network comments, or 5 multiparagraph network comments. You may not use a thread with the same character for two AC periods in a row.

You can post AC at any time in the month, the earlier, the better! This makes it easier for mods to space out administrative work through the month.

We allow for hiatuses of 1 month, up to 3 a year, not back to back. Players get one strike if they cannot make AC (with the exception of extraneous circumstances - please explain these to mods as soon as you are able to even if you’re not sure you’ll be unable to make AC and just think you might not make AC).

All of this said, think of AC proofs as a small cross-section of expected activity, the absolute bare minimum. This is a very small game, and there aren’t unlimited slots. Out of consideration to the people who didn’t make it in after you, please don’t squat.

New players should post a comment with their handle in the subject line, and then reply to that comment with the following subject line: Character Name | Canon | Role (Husband, Wife, Child).
For each month, post a new comment in reply to the subject line with your character’s name and canon, putting [Month] [Year] (ex: “January 2024”) in this comment’s subject line.

What did your character do this month? As a new arrival, Kalmiya spent most of July just getting acquainted with Sweetwater, its residents, and its expectations! And also learning how to be a totally non-magical human in a weird but apparently non-magical world. She has been handling the weird stuff like memory bleed pretty well as a professional (former) magic vision-haver, but she has been less chill about stuff like being trapped in a bunker for hours. Mostly she's just been trying to be friendly and helpful to make as many good first impressions as possible despite how little she knows about 1960s Earth.

What did your character do this month? Sam had her first Billy hallucination since arriving! She saw him in a punch bowl where he encouraged her to start killing people to either get home or take this place over. Maybe it was the combination of alcohol and heat or maybe this place is finally getting to her. She admitted to Homelander what the hallucination was but was a bit more careful when talking about it to Norton.

What did your character do this month? Norton is continuing to pretend to mostly conform and obey the power structure, still trying to cozy up to Dr. Pollock. He has met a new arrival, Homelander. Neither he nor his wife have murdered any one, including each other.

What did your character do this month? Sans suffered through a lack of air conditioning, which he really did not appreciate. Then he had to deal with a couple of his memories being revealed at random, one of which was especially unfortunate. By comparison, having to talk his way out of trouble in the house search was preferable.

What did your character do this month? Kalmiya did her best to prove herself a useful part of the community by sharing her knowledge from her experience surviving in low-tech hot weather environments during the blackout. The police also searched her and Wrench's home and discovered the pill Wrench took from Marjorie's house, during which Kalmiya followed Wrench's lead on the questioning that would have followed. She caught some of the TV memories of other Sweetwater captives, but mostly minded her own business about them because she's not the type to pry into the secrets of people, especially people she barely knows.

(Apologies for my sparse activity this month, I had some challenging unforeseen medical and personal circumstances arise irl 😔)

What did your character do this month? Homelander has been attempting to settle in and beating and heat by hanging out in a kiddy pool.

What did your character do this month? Considered turning himself back into a skeleton, if only so he wouldn't be nearly so sweaty ever again. Possibly damaged his AC in an attempt to get in there and mess with the mechanics of it himself? Fortunately a repairman got around to actually fixing it eventually, and either Papyrus didn't get a visit or there wasn't anything notably disruptive enough for a basement visit. The highlight - if you can call it that - of the month was the day of the static-preceded broadcast of memories on the TVs. Papyrus saw Sans back underground, skeletal and mercilessly fighting with the human, unleashing a bloody finishing move. A bit later that day in Sweetwater, when asked about the scene, Sans deflected for a few minutes before outright lying about it...

(~~Unfortunately life continued throwing things at me this month, and I didn't get a good window for tagging again until the end of the month, so my only thread is with Sans again. :/~~ )
(Edit to add: I realized later that my previous AC was a top-level, so it should be all good!)
