He also came across Chell, and they're planning on sneaking out to do some recon with the excuse that she felt claustrophobic and he's just making sure she doesn't get into trouble. There's no way that can go wrong. Later, he had a conversation with Norton that was initially about the smoke in the air but quickly turned into Norton telling Rodya about that time he was handcuffed to a bed in a burning building.
